New features included in this release:
- Adjusted an internal GPS setting for more reliable operation at altitudes higher than 150K feet MSL. This is in addition to the changes made to the GPS settings in firmware version 7.4.0.
- Modified the staging altitude check. If GPS is unavailable when the staging go/no-go firing decision is made, then the pyro board will now fall back to accelerometer altitude first instead of using the baro sensor altitude as in all previous versions of firmware. The draw back with using the baro sensor for the altitude check is that it can be slightly delayed from the actual altitude depending on how large the vent holes are that are provided by the user. This problem was seen on a two-stage flight with a very short burn boost motor and a fairly tight altitude constraint for staging. However, a draw back with using the accelerometer altitude is that it doesn't necessarily indicate height above the ground unless the trajecteory is vertical. Therefore, the accelerometer altitude is only used provided the tilt never exceeded 20 degrees. If the tilt exceeds 20 degrees at any point, then the fall back will be to use the baro sensor altitude to determine height above the ground.
- Fixed a bug in the quaternion values saved to memory during flight. They were supposed to be reporting the rocket's orientation with respect to the Earth. In reality, the previous versions of code were reporting the Earth's orientation with respect to the rocket. The motions were all backwards!
